Week at a Glance Jan 18-22, 2021

We are starting to settle back into our routines here at Cultus Lake Community School and rich learning opportunities are being provided by our staff. The forecast for next week is calling for cold weather. Please remember to send students with appropriate clothes for the weather conditions and possibly a change of clothing in case they get wet. We will be going outside everyday unless we are having extreme weather.

Daily Screening

At this time, the Chilliwack School District is still following the checklist provided to us by BC Centre for Disease Control. This link is also found on our district website on the COVID page. This may change in the future, but for now, we are airing on the cautious side. You can look at this flow chart to see what happens if we have a person who has been in the school confirmed to have COVID-19.

Pink Shirt Day

On February 24th, our school will be participating in Pink Shirt day. We have selected a design and will be giving parents an opportunity to order one of the shirts from the school. They will be $10 for a t-shirt and $25 for a Hoody. Order forms will be going home early next week and will be due back to the office by January 20th. You can get an order form here.

PAC Meeting

Our February PAC meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd at 6pm on Zoom. Please go to the following link to attend: https://sd33-ca.zoom.us/j/64486532596?pwd=cmZkSnFFQmR5aXdCVjN2UzZpaHlidz09

Please let us know if you have any questions and we hope to see you at the meeting. If you would prefer to call in rather than use the app, please contact me so I can provide you with the needed information.

Inclement Weather Guidelines

Inclement Weather Guidelines for 2020/2021 can be found here.

Inclement weather conditions such as freezing rain, significant snowfall or high wind can occur during the fall and winter months. In such conditions, decisions on the opening or closure of school district facilities are made by the Superintendent of Schools in consultation with management and supervisory staff who have checked first-hand on the driving conditions, walking/sidewalk conditions, and general condition of buildings and accessibility to sites. For more details on how this is done, click here. Please listen to the local radio stations or refer to the school district’s website (www.sd33.bc.ca) for school closures.

Super Reader

Please continue to read with your child every day and fill out the Super Reader form. If you have misplaced your form, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Thank you to the Kiwanis Club for sponsoring Super Reader!

Students Away

When your child is staying home from school, please call the school at 604-858-6266 to let us know. This ensures your child is safe and does not require a Safe Arrival phone call from Mrs. Betts.

Outdoor Play

Winter has arrived and so have cold, rainy days. Please ensure your child has proper outside clothing for the weather, as we will be going outside every day during recess and lunch breaks unless we have extreme weather.
