Week at a Glance April 5-9, 2021

We were so happy to welcome our students back after Spring Break. The break was a time to rest up and re-energize ourselves for the final push towards summer. It’s hard to believe we are a little over 12 weeks left in this school year. At school, we continue to strictly follow our COVID protocols. Out first line of defence is diligent hand washing and ensuring students are not in attendance if they have symptoms of COVID.

This Friday is a holiday and school will be closed. Monday is also a holiday and the school will be closed.

Daily Screening

A K to 12 Health Check Mobile App has been developed and should be used daily to determine if students should attend school. An email was sent out on March 30th, 2021, with an updated message around our province’s COVID protocols.  More information can be found on our district website on the COVID page. You can look at this flow chart to see what happens if we have a person who has been in the school confirmed to have COVID-19.

PAC Meeting

Our March PAC meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 6th at 6pm on Zoom. Please go to the following link to attend: https://sd33-ca.zoom.us/j/62676149456?pwd=RUVwdGM1ZTdwcEwzTnRJTVVremMrQT09

Please let us know if you have any questions and we hope to see you at the meeting. If you would prefer to call in rather than use the app, please contact me so I can provide you with the needed information.

Registration/Moving

Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now underway. If your child will be five years of age by December 31st, 2021, please register on-line at https://sd33.vivosforms.com/Home. We are also working on the staffing process for the 2021-2022 school year. In order to determine staffing allocations, it is important that we have accurate enrollment numbers. If you are planning on moving and know your child(ren) will not be attending Cultus Lake Community School next year, we would appreciate this information and would love to hear from you. If your child is planning on attending another school in the district, you are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible. Please contact our office to confirm you are moving.

CSOPA Winter Program

Lisa Braun, Director at Chilliwack School of Performing Art, is running a theatre program, on Thursdays from 2 until 3, for eight weeks, which started this week. This was for students in Grades 3 to 5 and filled up quickly. It will be canceled on February 11th, because of early dismissal and will not run during Spring Break. The last session will be on April 8th.

Super Reader

Please continue to read with your child every day and fill out the Super Reader form. If you have misplaced your form, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Thank you to the Kiwanis Club for sponsoring Super Reader!

Students Away

When your child is staying home from school, please call the school at 604-858-6266 to let us know. This ensures your child is safe and does not require a Safe Arrival phone call from Mrs. Betts.

Outdoor Play

Please ensure your child has proper outside clothing for the weather, as we will be going outside every day during recess and lunch breaks unless we have extreme weather.
